A Thematic Map

The purpose of this assignment was to learn geospatial visualization. This was also my first attempt at data story.

I expanded on our Advanced BI class exercise using Foursquare Studio and Kinghtlab. We were required to work with Durham Health dataset in class. As I was exploring this data, I was intrigued at the number of Non-Urgent Ambulance calls placed. I converted the .csv to .xlsx to filter and clean the data from 2015 - 2017 (a couple years before covid). When I noticed that Oshawa had placed highest amount of non-urgent calls, I was curious, as that's where I live. Therefore, I started investigating trends in demographics and infrastructure in Durham region, to figure out what could be the root cause of these calls. This will help policy makers in healthcare sector better plan and allocate resources. Meanwhile, educating the population on emergency services and when NOT to call an ambulance is necessary.
